Picking Your Wedding Colors
As 2011 couples start planning for their special day, color plays a key role in almost all of their decisions. We found this fun new color tool over on Martha Stewart Weddings. Click through to answer 10 questions, and a summary of your style and several color combinations are offered. There are also photos to show you the colors in use. It’s a great way to get a visual, and make one of the most important decisions that help drive your stationary, linen, floral, and dress choices.
Happy planning!
p.s – we had many of you asking us how the wedding weekend was with our un-invited guest Earl. We are happy to report that it was a beautiful weekend on island, the weddings all went off seamlessly, and there were some very happy couples at the end of the day.
Photo Friday – sort of
We all know our ‘friend’ Earl is heading up the coast and plans to visit us here in Nantucket. With wedding nuptials this weekend, couples are turning to their vendors for guidance, reassurance, and to put that Plan B in to action. For all of you who have weddings coming up in the next few weeks, this serves as a good reminder that it is always better to have a plan b in place (and hopefully not have to use it) than to be scrambling around at the last minute figuring things out. Watch this clip as one Nantucket bride talks about her weekend plans, and see how the island’s vendors are handling Earl’s arrival.

P.s. – they say stormy weather is good for a marriage. It certainly gives you great stories to tell for years to come! Best wishes to all island wedding couples this weekend and their vendors. Let the spirit of Nantucket shine this weekend!
Nantucket Wedding Film
This Nantucket wedding film blew us away so we HAD to share it here on the blog! We love the way that Meg has woven in all the scenic shots of the island, such an important part of every wedding weekend. The sounds bites, the music and all those amazing moments tell such a strong story it’s hard not to feel like you were there!
If you are planning for your September 25th, 2010 weekend wedding we have some news for you! Due to a sudden cancellation Meg is now available for that weekend, the most popular of the year! We’re sure she will be scooped right up so get in touch now to talk to her about your wedding film.

Pods, Berries, and Vines, Oh My!
With Labor Day just around the corner so comes the change in seasons. While the grocery stores and retail outlets get ready for fall and Halloween treats, many September island brides choose to keep a late summery feel to their wedding flowers. Here are a couple of tips to achieve balance and have things look season appropriate without inviting a fall harvest to your table.
Mix berries in shades of reds and honey colors with a pop of chartreuse. Instead of mixing the tried and true red and orange, lighten it up with a honey-colored hue and greens that have a lighter tone. A golden peach color is a softer look and helps to transition that feel of late summer days.
If you want to incorporate orange, keep it light-hearted and use fruits – oranges in fact, and mix them with some care-free peach gloriosa lilies or orchids for some fun tropical flair.
Mixing colors of the same intensity gives off the look of a casual summer garden. Ask your floral designer to mix different shaped blooms – large garden roses, delicate lady’s mantle, carefree sweetpea trailing throughout with the smooth, shiny leaf of galax. You are sure to evoke those lazy days of summer as your guests sit down for dinner.
Happy Planning.
Photo Fun Booth!
I am so excited to share with everyone that Brea McDonald Photography is now offering a Photo Fun Booth for our clients!
About two weeks ago we launched our Photo Fun Booth at a Cape Cod wedding…. and lets just say it was a BIG hit!
As you can see the Photo Fun Booth can add a little something “extra” to the after-dinner portion of your evening; with fun props and silly faces the photo booth brings all kinds of guests together! It was surprising how creative guests got when in the booth! It was impossible for anyone to walk away without a smile on their face.
The Photo Fun Booth is fully manned by one of our photographers to get the best shots possible AND get your guests rockin and rollin with some fun props (the sailors hat was a definite favorite of the night). We can use a standard white backdrop or work in a fabric that compliments your wedding day style. The booth is set up off to the side during your reception/welcome party and open for fun after dinner! A great addition to any fun filled weekend!.

Nautical Favors
We spotted this image over on Martha Stewart, and it is all about Nantucket Style for your wedding. Have a little fun with your guests and give them something sweet at the end of the evening to remember your fun-filled day. You can get these lobster suckers at The Chocolatier downtown. Add a thank you tag with ribbons in your wedding colors for a personal touch. You can have fun displaying them in ’sand’ (brown turbinado sugar) or buy a nautical map as your backdrop. A lollipop is sure to make every guest feel like a kid again.
