Nantucket Postcard Escort Table
I recently photographed a stunning Nantucket wedding at the White Elephant. The bride and groom infused their wedding with lots of classic Nantucket details. One of these elements was their Nantucket postcard escort table. I LOVE this idea and thought it was such a fun twist! The table was filled with a tray of deep thick grass that held up the vintage Nantucket postcards. Each postcard had the bride and grooms name and address already filled in so that after the wedding the guests could send them their wishes. So fun!! The cards also had the guest name and table name printed at the bottom left of the card where the post office bar code would end up.
What a great way to seat your guests and relive the wedding through their wedding postcards the weeks after the big day!

Holiday Magazine was quoted as saying, “Here in ‘Sconset, between the cranberry bogs and the rose-grown bluffs, is one of the most beguiling villages in the world.” Sconset is a very quaint and unique part of Nantucket and a hidden gem to many that travel to the island. A Private Concierge knows that the beautiful village of ‘Sconset offers many opportunities for the most gorgeous wedding views and venues including the chapel, beaches and the well-known Chanticleer.

The Weekend-Of, Part III
Sarah from A Private Concierge is back today with the final installment of her ‘Weekend-Of’ series:
We have covered almost all of the Weekend-Of your wedding tips, including: Don’t go hungry, arranging transportation for your guests, and options for petite travelers.
A Private Concierge has worked with your vendors to ensure all the final details are taken care of so that you don’t have to worry.
CREATE ITINERARIES FOR YOUR GUESTS
The guests are beginning to arrive for a beautiful Nantucket wedding weekend that is full of wonderful gatherings, cocktail parties, the ceremony & reception and even a Sunday brunch. A Private Concierge can be sure that all of your guests receive the full weekend-of itineraries to ensure they know when to be where and what to be wearing.
The itineraries are a great place to share local information about best beaches, historical information about Nantucket, or nightlife. If the rehearsal dinner is family and wedding party only be sure to share great restaurant recommendations, like The Straight Wharf Restaurant. Scott, Gabriel, & Amanda have done an amazing job creating and serving food that “speaks of this place and this culture.” It is a must eat when on Nantucket and after dinner it’s a great spot to enjoy some nightlife.
PROVIDE FINAL PAYMENTS FOR ALL VENDORS
We know this isn’t the most fun part of the wedding weekend, but most vendors require final payment on the day their job is completed. A Private Concierge knows you have a lot to think about, even after the ceremony and reception are over, so we can manage making sure each of your vendors receive their final payment. (And we keep records of every payment delivered, so you can cross that off your list too.)
TRANSPORT ANY GIFTS OR LINGERING ITEMS FROM VENUE
We know that you and your maid of honor don’t want to have to carry any gifts to The Chicken Box with you after the reception. So, A Private Concierge will make sure that any gifts or lingering items from the reception are delivered to your desired accommodation. And you know after many summers of dancing at The Chicken Box that wearing white is a big risk, so we can make sure your wedding dress gets to your accommodations safely as well when you make your final change of clothes.
AND FINALLY…ENJOY YOURSELF
A Private Concierge wants you to relax and enjoy yourself, let us take the stress out of your wedding weekend. Contact us at info@aprivateconcierge.com or call (508)-332-9422.
Cake Stands in You Wedding Colors!
Jodi from Jodi’s Cakes tipped us off to this fabulous Etsy shop and wanted us to share with all our readers. Sarah’s Stands was started when owner Sarah couldn’t find the perfect cake stand for her wedding… out of necessity comes creation! Brilliant and so simple.
Jodi says “They are very nicely done pedestal stands and come in 70 colors. What is unique is the ability to customize the color and they come in sizes up to 22 inches in diameter. Most pedestal stands are 12 inches max which isn’t large enough for a wedding cake. It’s a great resource for brides!”
Wow! 70 colors!! With selection like that we are certain you will find the perfect color to compliment your beautiful wedding cake.
Thanks Jodi!
Nantucket Photobooth
No event is too big or too small to include the timeless fun of a photo booth! Whether your Nantucket wedding is black tie at the Yacht Club or more casual out at the brewery the photo booth will be something your guest are certain to enjoy.
Wendy from Nantucket Photobooth shared with us that at even the most cutting-edge occasions, event planners are finding that the magic of stepping behind a curtain and pressing that button is truly timeless. At any event, from the most formal to the merely frolicsome, photo booths produce guaranteed results in gales of laughter, hilarity, and good-natured antics.
With today’s photo booths offering up top quality high resolution digital files, guest can now blow that skinny little paper strip up to a large wall size memento! This idea was recently spotted on HGTV and offers up a fun new twist to the traditional wedding portrait framed on the wall.
For more information on reserving a Nantucket Photobooth for your wedding or rehearsal dinner check out their website or e-mail info@nantucketphotobooth.com.
Wedding Cake Flavor Inspirations
Nantucket wedding cake expert Jodi Levesque from Jodi’s Cakes is known for her stunningly beautiful cakes. But it’s also what’s on the inside that makes her cakes so special. She joins us today to share some ideas on flavor combinations that will wow your guests. Thanks Jodi!
I would love to see couples go out on a limb a bit with flavors. Those are the cakes people not only remember but would never pass by for the dance floor! Nervous about your more particular guests? Offer something small like truffles or chocolate dipped strawberries for the few guests who perhaps are not wild about your chosen flavor. A small plate of macaroons at each table would also satisfy those more finicky eaters. French macaroons are very hot this season! They are the new cupcake.
Spring and summer weddings often tend towards light, fresh flavors. Raspberry lemon is always popular, but why not try something different?? Blackberry lemon or blueberry lemon is a wonderfully unexpected flavor twist. The tang of citrus and berries balances the sweetness of the cake and butter cream perfectly. Or go for a coconut cake layered with key lime curd and fresh raspberries. If you aren’t a fan of coconut –use a white butter cake instead.
Summer should be all about light and fresh. It is hot and guests have had a big meal..lots of sitting. This doesn’t mean you have to avoid chocolate..just balance the chocolate with something lighter such as fresh berries and a simple vanilla butter cream. Chocolate cake with coffee butter cream is a classic and one of my favorites…add some crunchy chocolate espresso beans for a twist!! Want something more decadent? How about white butter cake with mocha praline buttercream. You get it all…light white cake..chocolate..coffee and the crunch of praline!
Prefer to keep it simple? Yellow cake with dulce de luche buttercream is a great summer cake. Serve with a side of fresh berries and some whipped cream..perfection!
Fall is particularly a fun time for stepping out. I will never lose my affection for the classic carrot cake but how about soft moist layers of pumpkin cake with a cream cheese filling? Late summer/ early fall people are just beginning to tire of lemon and berries..they are ready for those hearty fall flavors but the weather may still be warm. Try a light white spice cake with fresh raspberries and a spiced butter cream icing. Late fall is definitely the time to go all chocolate! Let your hair down and forget about swimsuits for awhile!
When faced with a couple who is unsure of which flavor to choose I will often ask them what their favorite dessert is..not their favorite cake. How can we translate this into a cake?
Say a couple loves salted pralines…then lets talk about a Chocolate cake with a salted caramel cashew buttercream!
The key is to have fun with the flavor! Weddings are meant to be special and they are all about celebrating the couple. If someone says ” I am not a cake lover”.. I say you haven’t thought about it enough!
