Daffodil Festival Weekend – April 23-25th, 2010

Come and view the 3000 plus daffodils that scatter the island this time of year. Take in the classic car parade, children’s bike parade or picnic in Sconset on Saturday. The traditional spring kickoff on the island.

Nantucket Wine Festival – May 19-23rd, 2010

For foodies and wine lovers of all kinds. This event can’t be missed! For over 12 years the Nantucket Wine Festival has brought some of the worlds best to the island to share their wine. Celebrity chefs and a full weekend of events have made this event one of the most popular island events. Check out the Wine Festival website for full details.

Figawi Race Week – May 22-25th

Over the last twenty years Figawi Weekend has grown to be considered the premier social event of the season. This is what many consider to be the kickoff to the summer. With over 250 boats racing from Hyannis to Nantucket the island erupts into a sea of sails and social events.

Nantucket Spring Restaurant Week – June 7-13th, 2010

A full week of special restaurant menues created to delight! The islands best come out for this highly attended event. If you can’t attend in the spring make a note for the Fall Restaurant Week.

Nantucket Film Festival- June 17-20th, 2010

For over eleven years, the Nantucket Film Festival has been renowned for its eschewing of Hollywood glamour and its focus on the substantive art of screen writing. The festival boasts independent films, celebrity panels and readings and the annual screenwriters tribute. This is truly an up close and personal look at the way a story is told in film. Great for star sightings too!

Boston Pops on Nantucket – August 8th

Rated the best summer event each year on Nantucket! If you can only come to the island once this year this is the weekend to come. An amazing experience for everyone in attendance. Purchase your tickets and pack your picnic basket, this beach concert is like no other. What more can you ask for!!

Sandcastle & Sculpture Day – August 21st, Jetties Beach

The Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Nantucket Island School of Design and the Arts (NISDA) will hold the 35th Annual Sandcastle and Sculpture Day. Over 50 sculptures will emerge from the sand on this August afternoon. A late-summer ritual for some, families and teams return year after year to vie for top honors.

Nantucket Race Week – August 8-16th

Nantucket Race Week is hosted by the Nantucket Yacht Club and the Great Harbor Yacht Club to benefit Nantucket Community Sailing (NCS), a non-profit, educational organization that provides affordable access to sailing and water sports to the public. Now in its fourteenth year, NCS served over 2000 sailors last year, providing free equipment and instruction through many community outreach programs, including sponsoring and coaching Nantucket’s High School Sailing Team, offering scholarships to year-round island youth, running informal sailboat races for all levels and teaching adaptive windsurfing and rowing clinics for disabled athletes. This is a spectacular event to witness both in the water or on shore.

Opera House Cup Regatta- August 16th

The Opera House cup is a cherished tradition on Nantucket. This is the finale of sorts to race week and is an all-wooden, single-hulled classic boat regatta. This race attracts some of the most breathtaking sailboats in the country. Walk the docks in the boat basin to take a closer look at these amazing boats.

Nantucket Fall Restaurant Week- September 27- October 3rd, 2010

Enjoy a week of culinary extravaganza showcasing Nantucket’s superb restaurants with special menus and price points. Highlighted events include an Opening Gala and Nantucket Junior Chef competition!

Nantucket Christmas Stroll Weekend – December 4-6th

Nantucket is particularly enchanting during the holiday season, when New England’s finest traditions come alive for the Annual Christmas Stroll Weekend.  Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive to the island via a Coast Guard vessel and ride up Main Street in a horse-drawn carriage accompanied by the Town Crier. Carolers in Victorian costumes, bell ringers, student choirs and other musicians perform on the Main Street stage as well as stroll through town performing, all the while visitors can enjoy Nantucket’s unique shops and restaurants.
