Boston Weddings

If you are a bride in the North East then you know and love the magazine. It comes out twice a year and dazzles us with everything we love about New England.

The current issue out on stands now challenged Boston area florists to create luxe bridal bouquets inspired by three very different invitation sets. The feature is called ‘Perfect Pairings’ and showcases one of our favorite artists Sara from Griffin-vites! Check out the stunning apple orchard set that was selected below. Her watercolor artwork is perfect for capturing the texture of the seasons and sophisticated enough for any island wedding. Love the green in these apples!

This shoot is such a great concept…. hhhmmm… maybe something we can take on here at NWU?

Nantucket Vendors Create Vintage Inspiration

There are so many amazing vendors here on Nantucket who help to make your wedding dreams come true.  With the latest issue of Wellwed magazine out on news stands, we thought it would be fun to show you the hard work that goes in to getting some of those beautiful images on the pages you couples use as you gather inspiration for your big day.

Back in early May, vendors got together for the Fall photo shoot of the magazine.  Armed with a color palette and vintage ribbons, this is what they pulled together.

Vendors involved in the shoot included Placesetters, Jodi’s Cakes, Zofia Photography, Marty Kelly Papers and Soiree Floral.

Zofia hard at work capturing every last detail

Marty Kelly of Marty Kelly Papers (in the stripes) and Dawn Kelly of Soiree Floral(no, they aren’t related and yes they have been asked if they are sisters) put the finishing touches to the table as they get ready for the stationary close-ups.  Be sure to check out the magazine to see the amazing cake created by Jodi’s cakes.

Behind the Scenes with Soiree Floral

Today we take a behind the scenes look of how a couple’s wish list becomes  reality with Dawn Kelly of Soiree Floral

I am often asked how do we come up with a look that celebrates who the couple is on their wedding day? The answer is never clear cut – sometimes it happens within the first few minutes of my very first interactions with client. Other times, it takes getting to know the couple – letting their ‘couple’s taste’ evolve during the process, and going back to the drawing board a few times. That was the case with our lovely Carter and Jen. Wellwed magazine asked me to share my insights as they showcased our process from the Inspiration board to the wedding day. There are some great tips in this article for clients and vendors setting out to showcase their personal style on the big day.

Summer Sorbets Island Shoot, Take II

Today we have guest blogger Marty Kelly of Marty Kelly Papers giving us the 411 on how she came up with her designs.

When WellWed told me they would be shooting a tablescape on Nantucket in a sorbet color palette, I knew my designs would have to be super summery, fresh, and fun. For the menus and escort cards I chose beach umbrella and flip flop motifs, reminiscent of carefree moments in the summer sun. Knowing that sorbet was being served, I designed some colorful personalized word cloud cone wrappers. On each wrapper I printed the couple’s names and all sorts of loving sentiments and sweet nothings, like “joy, hope, smiles, forever, friendship, and family”.  Summer loving at its best!

Great inspirations for your summer Island wedding!

Summer Sorbets Island Photo Shoot

Last August, some of the islands finest vendors got together to showcase their areas of expertise on all things wedding.  Wellwed’s editor-in-chief Krista Washburn chose colors as irresistibly vivid as this favorite refreshing summer treat.

Placesetters chose a whimsical paisley pattern for the linens, and a polka-dot chair cushion with paisley piping for a fun twist to the seating.  Centerpieces (by Soiree Floral) in sorbet colors and vintage milk glass containers round out the table, with little birds perched in teacups.

A summery bouquet with lots of texture.  Dawn Kelly of Soiree Floral suggests choosing a bouquet as unique as you are.  Talk to your floral designer about different textures and colors that will make your bouquet pop.

Wellwed Features Unique Nantucket Events

Today we are showcasing more island vendors from the Spring/Summer issue of Wellwed Magazine.  Nicole Wheldon, owner of Unique Nantucket – wedding & event planning gives the 411 on how she approaches an event.  One tip she swears by when speaking with couples is to tell them to embrace their own personal style when planning their wedding.

Also, just a quick reminder the Cape & Islands Wedding Affair takes place this weekend at Ocean’s Edge Resort in Brewster, MA.  Wendy from Nantucket Photobooth said she will be on site and taking photos of all the festivities.  Be sure to stop by and say hello to her!
